Chaos & Order
22Mar07
They say you learn the most when your worldview is being turned upside down. Innovation and learning happens when chaos meets order. When we let go of the status quo, say no to more of the same, and give ourselves over to something new, something unfamiliar. We need just enough order to give us a pattern, just enough chaos to give us new ideas, and this is the chaordic path. Dee Hock, founder and former CEO of VISA, has written much about organizations that embrace this philosophy, indeed some that are built on it. There are good reasons to think that notions like “empowerment” and “decentralization” are not just the latest management fad.
