The Hub

The Hub

Silo-thinking is a big barrier to change today. Working with the best new ideas coming through right now requires a new level of visibility. My sense is that we are witnessing ever more cross-pollination and horizontal integration across previously disparate agendas. And while this is happening throughout society, we spot it in some places before others. These are places where people and ideas collide, unlikely allies work next to each other, and where we each get a sense of the larger systems within which we collectively operate. The Hub, is designed to be one of these visibility areas, giving large numbers of people better visibility of more information and possibilities. As one of the company’s directors, I hope this space helps our members identify new leverage points, and inspires us all to make different, and arguably more potent, decisions about our work and our lives.

I completely agree that we’re seeing more and more, often unexpected, alliances - cross-culture, cross-sector, cross-boundary. What The Hub is aiming to do - to provide a physical space for such cross-fertilisation - is immensly important and I watch with interest the expansion of The Hub’s ideas globally.

You mention ‘disparate agendas’. I am also hopeful that by physically bringing together different players in the same space, they will identify similarities in their agendas. Working together, separate agendas can often converge for mutual gain, with the added bonus that the players bring different skills and experience to the table, making it more likely that the adapted, joint agenda can successfully lead to positive outcomes for all the parties.

People are often stimulated by controversy and new perspectives, let’s provide opportunities to stretch our wings outside our comfortable silo and gain together!
